
Detroit, Mich. (May 30, 2025) – Andretti Global announced this morning that it will accept the penalties of the No. 27 and 28 entries from the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
The team was fined $100,000 and competition managers Josh Freund (No. 27 entry) and Paul Harcus (No. 28 entry) will be absent from the Detroit GP this weekend following the post-500 technical inspections.
Andretti Global was in violation of:
- Rule 9.3.1. Improper Conduct – Any member attempting to or engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct, unsafe conduct, or conduct detrimental to racing; INDYCAR; and/or to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, whether during an Event or on/off the Track, may be subject to any or all penalties.
- Rule 14.1.2. Questions to be submitted and will be answered via IRIS. Modifications must be approved seven (7) days prior to the date of intended use.
- Rule 14.1.3. All parts provided by an Approved Supplier must be used as supplied without modification unless otherwise approved by INDYCAR and stated in these Rules or in update bulletins.
The team released a statement Friday morning:
“After careful analysis with IndyCar surrounding the Indianapolis 500 Post-Race Technial Violations and Penalties to the No. 27 and 28 cars, we accept the penalties issued and will not pursue further review,” said Andretti Global.
“While we are disappointed in the outcome, we will take the necessary steps to ensure full compliance moving forward and want to thank our fans, crews and sponsors who continue to support us. Our focus now shifts to the future and delivering strong, competitive results on track – beginning this weekend with the Detroit Grand Prix.”
The NTT IndyCar Series rolls on with the Detroit Grand Prix on June 1 at 12:30 p.m. on FOX and the IndyCar Radio Network SiriusXM Channel 218.
